HOLLY HILL, FL — Police are investigating a fatal incident involving an “evil clown” that occurred outside a Little Caesars pizza franchise on May 28.
Just before midnight, a man in an “evil clown” mask reportedly lurked outside the Little Caesars outlet in Holly Hill.
The unidentified suspect then allegedly attacked employee Heriberto Feliciano, 28, as the worker was leaving the restaurant.
Feliciano in turn, reportedly shot the assailant, who was taken to a hospital where he later died from wounds. The incident was apparently captured on video.
Holly Hill Police Chief Stephen Aldrich said it appeared that the masked man “ambushed” the employee. The chief further noted that, on the video, the attacker can be seen hitting Feliciano with a wooden board, pinning him to the ground, and attempting to stab the worker with a pair of scissors. The tape then reportedly shows Feliciano responding with deadly gunfire.
Chief Aldrich shared portions of the video with the press and described it as follows:
“As [Feliciano] stepped out of the door, he was immediately attacked by a suspect that was brandishing some kind of wooden board … [The suspect] came dressed as he was in the attack with a board, so he apparently knew when the restaurant itself closed.“
The video also depicts the employee firing “multiple rounds,” one of which shatters the Little Caesars’ front door glass.
The police chief said officers are investigating whether the employee has a concealed-weapon permit, but added that right now, no charges are being filed, stating:
“It was an ambush type of an attack, and it does appear that [Feliciano] was defending himself.”
Still, Chief Aldrich said that police scoured the scene Sunday morning for any more possible evidence, and he added:
“This is unusual for the city of Holly Hill and we take this very seriously. That’s why we are aggressively following it up at this point.”
