Man Beats Toddler, Leaves Him Covered In Cuts And Bruises As Mother Is Away At Work: Cops

A Florida man was arrested recently on suspicion of aggravated child abuse for an attack that left a young boy with multiple injuries including two severely swollen black eyes.

As the Pensacola News Journal reported, 35-year-old Albert Lee McClammy is accused of abusing the child in his care late last year.

The victim’s mother, who was working at the time, returned to the Cantonment home to find her son seriously injured. His head was covered in bruises and abrasions, reports indicate, and similar injuries were found on his chest, back and hand.

While authorities did not release the victim’s age, they did confirm his age played a role in keeping the interview brief. He reportedly also still traveled in a car seat.

WEAR reported that the victim is a 3-year-old toddler.

Police say he initially claimed he sustained the injuries when he fell off his scooter.

McClammy reportedly offered a similar story, telling investigators the boy was playing outside when he was hurt and denying that he noticed the injuries until hours after they occurred.

The child’s testimony reportedly changed, however, and he shared details of the alleged attack at the hands of McClammy.

According to the boy’s story, he and the suspect were in a vehicle when McClammy hit him with a baseball and a toy car, slammed his head into a window, and stuffed a rag in his mouth. He could not explain how he sustained the injuries to his back, according to police.

The suspect was arrested last week and booked into Escambia County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
