Parents Dump Live Newborn Baby In Trash Before Calling 911 To Report Fake Miscarriage: Cops

Authorities in Louisiana have arrested a couple accused of dumping a living newborn baby in a trash can.

As the New York Post reported, 31-year-old Carl Hall and 30-year-old Thelma Kirkland were arrested on Friday, two days after initially calling 911 to report a miscarriage.

Emergency medical technicians reportedly responded to the suspects’ home in Alexandria on Wednesday, where they were treating Kirkland for her alleged complication during delivery. They were joined at the scene by police.

“When officers arrived, they contacted emergency personnel, who had been summoned earlier to a report of a miscarriage,” according to a statement released by Alexandria Police.

During the visit, first responders reportedly discovered the baby in a trash receptacle.

A statement released by Alexandria Police indicates paramedics “told offices that they had arrived and begun treating the mother, and discovered a newborn baby, still alive, in the trash.”

At that point, Alexandria detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the residence.

“Detectives learned that after the baby was born, it was placed in the trash,” police said.

According to reports, the newborn was likely discarded at least an hour before the call to 911 was made.

Both Kirkland and the baby were transported from the scene to an area hospital.

The mother has since been released and was booked, along with Hall, into Rapides Parish Detention Center. Both are expected to face charges of attempted first-degree murder.

As of the latest reports available, the child remained hospitalized and on life support.
